How to use AnyPS5
There are two ways to convert an app: the online converter for small ones, and the native relinker from the release for everything else. Both need the same input. This guide follows the project's own USAGE.md and converter page as of October 13, 2026.
- Input: one decrypted ELF executable, with modules in
sce_module/ - Default output is a Linux ELF; add
--windowsfor a Windows .exe - The output runs next to
libs/andapp0/ - Converting does not guarantee the app runs
What you need
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| PC | x86-64, Windows 10/11 or Linux |
| GPU | Vulkan-capable. The device can be chosen with the ANYPS5_GPU environment variable |
| AnyPS5 build | From the official Releases page, or built from source |
| Your app | A clean, decrypted ELF executable from software you own, with its sce_sys/ and module folders |
| Skill level | Comfortable with a command line and reading error output |
Method 1: the native relinker
- Download and extract a release
Get the build for your OS from the official Releases page and extract the whole archive. - Lay out the input folder
Put the app's bundled ELF modules insce_module/,sce_modules/orprx/next to the executable, or under a parent folder you pass with--sce-module-path. Having bothsce_module/andsce_modules/, or none of the three, is an error. - Unwrap encrypted files first
SELF and fSELF containers are skipped with a warning. The relinker only works on decrypted ELF files. - Run the relinker
Point it at the executable. With no target flag you get a Linux ELF regardless of the output file extension. Use--windowsfor a PE executable. The exact command syntax is in USAGE.md. - Check the output layout
The converted executable sits besidelibs/(the system .prx libraries built for your OS) andapp0/(resources and converted modules). Keep them together. - Launch it
Start the executable from a terminal so you can see stderr. Exit code 0 from the relinker means success, 1 means invalid arguments, 2 means the conversion failed.
Method 2: the online converter
- Open the converter
Go to boykopovar.github.io/AnyPS5. Conversion happens in your browser and files stay on your device. - Choose a folder or drop a ZIP
The input needs one executable ELF plussce_sys/andsce_module/. ZIP and ZIP64 are supported, for decrypted ELF files only. - Confirm and pick a target
Tick the confirmation box, then choose Windows .exe or Linux .elf. There is an optional switch to convert AMD-specific instructions for Intel CPUs. - Pick how to save
Download in memory for small apps, save a ZIP to disk for large apps, or save to a folder uncompressed. - Convert, then extract everything
Click Convert & save. Extract the entire ZIP before launching the executable.
Online converter limits
- In-memory downloads have a 256 MiB budget.
- Larger results need desktop Chrome or Edge, which can save directly to disk.
- The executable, modules and icon are limited to 256 MiB combined. Bigger inputs need the native relinker.
Relinker options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
--windows | Output a Windows PE executable instead of a Linux ELF |
--macos | Output an x86-64 Mach-O file for Rosetta on Apple silicon |
--to-intel | Rewrite AMD-specific instructions for Intel CPUs |
--to-rosetta | As above, and also lower instructions Rosetta lacks |
--sce-module-path | Tell the relinker where the module folder's parent is |
unused-filter=0|1|2 | Control how unused imports are pruned; 0 keeps all of them |
--registry, --autorun, --module-dir, --executable | Extra output files, run after converting, extra module and program conversion |
USAGE.md marks --skip-sce-module, --exclude-sce-module, --skip-syscall-check and --lazy-binding as deprecated debugging flags that make the application unstable.
Runtime settings
| Setting | Purpose |
|---|---|
ANYPS5_GPU | Select which Vulkan device to use |
ANYPS5_PRESENT_MODE | Set the Vulkan present mode |
ANYPS5_LANGUAGE | Console language; defaults to English (United States) |
anyps5-fonts/ folder | System fonts go here, beside the executable. Openly licensed substitutes are supported |
anyps5-input.ini | Keyboard and mouse mapping |
Platform notes and common problems
- Windows: missing DLLs. The MinGW runtime DLLs must sit beside the libraries.
- Windows: memory commit errors. Direct memory is committed up front, so the page file has to be large enough. Increase it if the app fails at start.
- Linux: dma-buf access. Imports go through
/dev/udmabuf, and your user needs read-write access to it. - Stops with a missing function. The game called a system function AnyPS5 has not implemented. The repo's
tools/import_audit.pycan check a converted game's imports against the built libraries before you launch, sorting each into implemented, stub, absent or module. - Nothing converted. The input was probably still an encrypted SELF/fSELF file.
If a game gets further than the reports on the compatibility list, the project asks for test reports in its "Game bring-up" GitHub Discussions, one thread per title.
FAQ
Is there an AnyPS5 installer or .exe setup?
No. The official release is an archive you extract, with a command-line relinker. Sites offering an AnyPS5 installer are not the project.
Where do I get the game files?
From your own console and games. AnyPS5 does not supply games, keys or firmware, and this site does not link to any.
Does converting a game mean it will run?
No. The converter page itself says conversion does not guarantee that an app runs. Check the compatibility list first.
Can I use a keyboard and mouse?
Yes, through an anyps5-input.ini file. SDL-mapped controllers work without it.
